Wall fountains and Space

Written on October 15, 2011 by admin

Try to avoid these three common mistakes when selecting the wall fountain for your home.

1) Color. Indoor fountains come in a huge variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. This means that you have a great chance to accent your room with something that will complete and finish it. It also means that you can spend a lot of money to receive something that simply does not work with your ensemble. Sleek indoor water fountains made from steel or glass work very well with modern rooms, and classic gem tone rooms often benefit from a stone or bronze fountain. However, lace or ‘clothy’ rooms will likely clash with whatever fountain you get simply because of the solidity and smoothness that they exude. Be very conscious of the overall effect you want to create

2) Size: small. A small wall fountain can be worse than a painting or poster if it leaves too much empty space. This may make your fountain look ‘cute’ or insufficient, perhaps even cheap. The movement of the fountain will always attract and center the eye however if there is too much empty space around the point of attraction the effect becomes somewhat—off.

3) Size: Large. The same goes for spaces that are utterly overwhelmed by the waterfall raging where a moderately sized fountain would have done perfectly. An over-large piece will likely feel somewhat unstable and may actually make the room feel too small or overly ostentatious. In general be sure that the effect of the room is balanced and soothing and if necessary return your first purchase for another or consult a home decorating expert.
